The winners from the regional We the People competitions met in Olympia on March 9, 2010 in the state finals to determine which school would represent the State of Washington in the National Competition to be held later this year. The competition was fierce with eight schools vying for the privilege.

This national program is funded by donations from people and organizations together with some federal money that think it important for our younger citizens to learn about the history and philosophy of the civic education regarding the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights. Distinguished judges pose questions to them about interpretation of rights and duties under the Constitution and the Bill of Rights and grade their answers based on these documents. Students in this program usually go on in life to positions of responsibility. The winner this year was Tahoma High School, a school well known for its program which is locally supported in part by the Tahoma High School Foundation.
